Call to Artists: Edible Reno Tahoe @ Edible Reno Tahoe Magazine
Aug 23 @ 12:00 am – 11:45 pm

CALL FOR ARTISTS

Edible Reno-Tahoe magazine is looking for visual artists to appear in a regular column in our magazine that’s entitled “What’s in Season.” The column runs in each issue, to show readers what foods are in season in our coverage area (Reno/Sparks, Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Plumas County, Churchill County, Storey County, Carson City, Carson Valley). The piece appears in print and online.

If you are selected to appear in the magazine, you would be paid for one-time usage of the piece, and artist would retain full ownership of the piece for other uses. Though edible Reno-Tahoe, like many local publications, operates with a limited budget, payment for use is negotiable, and will be discussed upon submission and offer of assignment.

Here are some examples of other artists’ work that has appeared in this column:

You may choose to create an image of a single veggie or fruit, you can do a basket of veggies and fruits in season for summer, a farmer pulling something seasonal from the farm, etc. The work should in some way relate to the column, but this is, of course, open to artist interpretation. Your style and original ideas are welcome. Additionally, on the page where art is feature, the artist’s bio and contact information, website, etc. will be included, providing additional exposure.

Because we are interested in featuring new artists on a regular basis, there are many opportunities for artists year-round. If you are interested in appearing in the column, please submit samples of your work to Amanda Burden, Publisher/Editor, or to Jessica Santina, Managing Editor. Our contact information is below. Thank you in advance for your submission to edible Reno-Tahoe! We look forward to working with you! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Aug 23 @ 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

A large-scale wall installation made from thousands of straight pins showing the perimeter of Lake Tahoe and its tributaries. Straight pins have long been used as markers on maps to signify the location of the viewer or the site of a specific place or event. By aggregating thousands of custom-made pins into maps of large-scale geographic features, Lin reverses our standard notion of figure to ground. Viewers begin to realize how rivers and lakes actually consist of many thousands of individual incidents of rain and snow, flood and drought, pools and waterfalls, bays and inlets.
